Our pets are not only our friends......they are our soul mates, offering us unconditional & everlasting love. Their beautiful spirits are always open to giving and receiving. They are our teachers.
Our pets support, encourage and love us during our most difficult times. Their love replenishes our souls and inspires us to be the very best that we can. That is why when our pets are ill, our world changes and we do anything in our power to help and support them in return.
Animal Reiki is not that different from human Reiki. However, as many animals, especially previously sheltered ones, are not comfortable being touched, the practitioner does not have to touch the animal to offer a Reiki treatment.
A session begins at a distance. It is the animal’s choice to come closer. Often, the animal will present the part of its body to the practitioner that needs attention, insisting that the hands be placed there.
Reiki can be used for all types of illnesses and injuries in animals. It is especially soothing and comforting to animals that are nervous or in pain.
Animals too afraid to be touched, unable to be moved or aggressive animals can be treated effectively from a distance. Reiki can also help animals deal with bereavement.
You will often find misbehavior in animals from a home with issues between the humans. This can be an indicator that a Reiki treatment for your animal companion may be helpful.
The practitioner is a transmitter of healing energy to which animals respond amazingly well and much faster than humans do. Our pets live in the moment and they have no preconceived notions to get over.
Animal Reiki is the same as human Reiki, as they too have a physical and emotional body and to some degree, a spiritual one.
Reiki can delay the onset and progression of diseases, and can also energize and revitalize older animals.
For dying animals, Reiki is a powerful, yet gentle way to provide comfort, and relief from pain. It is also successful in relieving anxiety, fear, and for easing the transition to death.
During a treatment, the comfort of the animal is paramount. Like humans, all animals are individuals and they all have similar yet different wants and needs. Some animals will accept more energy, some less.
Generally, either the energy stops flowing or the animal will walk away when treatment is at an end. Also, smaller animals such as hamsters, reptiles, and birds will usually take less energy than larger cats, dogs, and small farm animals. In turn, dogs and cats etc., will take less energy and time for treatment than larger animals like horses.
A full treatment for any animal usually consists of hand placements that cover all of the energy centers and pathways. The Reiki practitioner gently lifts and places their hands in these positions while the energy flows. The animal may experience a number of different sensations including heat, and tingling.
As with humans, they may become very sleepy and yawn, stretch or snore. Some are energized and want to eat directly after a treatment and a lot of the time, Reiki will trigger a purge and the animal will feel the need to eliminate. Remember, Reiki always goes where it is needed.
It is preferred that the animal’s person participate in the treatment by either holding them or their cage and in the case of horses, holding the lead rope and maybe talking to them softly. Of course, the best way to know what your animal may experience with Reiki is to have a treatment yourself. By being an active participant in your animal’s treatment, you will also reap the benefits.
Reiki can be used as a preventative measure, such as before travel, shows and seeing the vet. It is a powerful natural therapy that helps to restore balance and health, and boost the immune system. It can improve the results of medical treatments by reducing pain and stress, and shortening healing time. There is a fine line, often blurred between physical, emotional and behavioral problems.
Animals can absolutely be treated and comforted with Reiki energy. No one knows exactly what an animal experiences during a Reiki session, but something in them seems to let go and relax. They normally will become very still and seem to sense that something very special is taking place, and gratefully take the energy in.
Animals respond very well to Reiki, and just like humans, Reiki can be used for all types of illnesses, injuries and emotional problems. Reiki can accelerate the healing process in animals, ease pain, and improve or help to continue their quality of life. It is very unusual to encounter an animal who will not readily accept Reiki. In addition, they usually show you by their body positions where to place your hands.
